PREMIERE: Bruno Mars Goes Aussie Punk On Captives’ Ripper ‘Locked Out Of Heaven’ Cover

Prepare to shake your hips and bang your head at the same time because Melbourne-via-Tassie riff-slingers Captives have just sideswiped us with their very own Punk Goes Pop style number.

They’ve given Bruno Mars‘ 2012 smash hit ‘Locked Out Of Heaven’ an Aussie rawk makeover and the results will take you to punk paradise.

Speaking about how this impromptu Like A Version came about, frontman Aaron Damon tells Music Feeds: “I think we were just at a BBQ at our manager’s house one day and the idea got thrown out to do ‘Locked Out Of Heaven’.

“…It wasn’t really our thing but we thought, ‘fuck it lets do it’,” he continues. “It was just after we finished the album [their 2018 debut Over The Rainbow] and we had a bit of down time while all that was getting sorted, so we booked some studio time and just smashed it out for a laugh.”

Well, the Captives lads may have been laughing at the time, but their rendition ended up being such a bloody ripper that they gave it its own music video, complete with a house party of beer-swilling mosh mayhem.

Scope it out exclusively via Music Feeds below (just wait til that 2nd chorus punches in — BAM!) and fans lucky enough to live in Melbourne can also catch the lads playing a very special intimate, punk AF show at the city’s iconic Old Bar on Saturday, August 25th.

It comes after Captives packed out all the dates on their album tour, and tickets will be at the door only so you’d best get down there early if you don’t wanna be, ahem, LOCKED OUT OF HEAVEN.

After signing a worldwide publishing deal with Cooking Vinyl Australia and bagging Triple J‘s Unearthed NIDA film clip comp, it seems like Captives have a very bright future ahead.
