Sydney’s E for Echo have released another track from forthcoming EP How to Win with a new single entitled ‘Talk Don’t Talk’.
It’s a stylishly atmospheric bit of dream-pop from the group, oscillating between sparse moments of quiet with lush, textural bursts of guitar and synth. The band’s Zana Rose and Jenna Murphy’s intertwining vocals work a treat, too. Overall, it’s in the same ballpark as early Foals or Warpaint.
According to the band, ‘Talk Don’t Talk’ is “about the way worry can loom over you, leaving you stuck in a kind of limbo. It’s about waiting for the discomfort to pass so you don’t have to talk about it, but not knowing when or if it ever will.”
There’s a video coming next week for the track directed by Michael Chow, one half of synth-pop revivalists Froyo.
It’s the second single to come from the band’s forthcoming How To Win EP, following the similarly hazy ‘Oh Boy’ back in April.
Listen to ‘Talk Don’t Talk’ below. You can catch E for Echo launching the single this Saturday night at Oxford Art Factory alongside Perth rockers Death by Denim. Grab yourself a ticket here.
The band will also be launching the video at Sydney’s Golden Age Cinema on July 13th.
