When you stop to think about the vastness of the planet, the many landscapes, oceans and valleys spread across Earth, it can be an awe-inspiring experience. That’s the sentiment Sydney artist Mammals conjures with his new video for ‘Invertebrate’, premiering here today.
The clip is impressive and nothing short of stunning, made up of inverted drone footage of landscapes across Mongolia and Namibia captured by cinematographers Hamish Wilson and Abraham Joffe and directed by Simon Lister. The camera carries viewers away to another world, except it’s our world, just upside down.
“When composing ‘Invertebrate’ I have attempted to transport the listener to another world. This is exactly what the concept was when I spoke to the Director Simon Lister,” explains Mammals’ Guy Brown. “I have been a massive fan of his work and knew he has some amazing footage from remote places around the world. With drone footage from Mongolia and Namibia, Simon came up with the idea to invert the footage which blew me away.”
“We wanted to try something different and inverted all the footage a to really create an interesting perspective on our amazing planet,” adds Lister. “With Mammals beautiful track, the pictures work like a trance and a journey through other worlds.”
‘Invertebrate’ is featured on Mammals’ EP, Chase Your Bliss, out now. Mammals will be playing tracks from the EP on his upcoming national tour, but first, will be supporting Vera Blue on her tour this month.
