Aussie acts are punching well above their weight on the lineup for next year’s South By Southwest, dominating the 2018 festival’s second artist announcement.
A whopping 15 of the 160 new acts added to SXSW 2018 will be repping for the green and gold (that’s almost 10 per cent, FYI), with Melbourne rock legends The Black Sorrows, 23-year-old producer Alice Ivy, Melbourne singer-songwriter Didirri, Brisbane rhyme-spitter Mallrat, The Teskey Brothers and more heading to Texas for the annual musical monster mash.
The list is rounded out by Blood, ELSZ and Thani Phoenix (Sydney), The Elliotts, Small Island Big Song and WILSN (Melbourne) plus Gordi, The Heart Collectors, Tori Forsyth and Vacations.
They join the previously announced cop of 19 homegrown musos announced for SXSW 2018 — which was led by Gang Of Youths, Stonefield, Dean Lewis and Ruby Fields — making 34 of the total 360 acts announced on the bill bloody ‘Strayan mate.
SXSW is set to take place from the 12th to the 18th of March, 2018, with a whole bunch of international artists including rock n’ roll party starter Andrew W.K and Seattle’s Acid Tongue also featuring on the eclectic bill.
