The 1975 Take The Full Piss Out Of Themselves In New Video For ‘The Sound’

Hot on the heels of the release of their new album I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of ItThe 1975 have dropped a new music video for their latest single, The Sound.

And it’s smarter than your average.

It starts out simple enough, with the band performing live inside the neon pink lighting rig that punters who recently caught the band live on their January Aussie tour might recognise as a fixture of their stage show.

But as the performance progresses, strangers start approaching the band to get a closer look, and a series of merciless review quotes sledging the absolute crap out of Matt Healy & co. flash up on the screen.

Some choice pearlers include “unconvincing Emo lyrics”, “punch-your-TV obnoxious” and “this band thinks it has a charismatic singer… it doesn’t.”

By confronting their harshest critics and taking the full piss out of themselves, The 1975 once again demonstrate a savvy hyper-awareness of their own image.
