The 2016 Bondi Beachfest Has Been Cancelled

The organisers of Bondi Beachfest have today announced that the 2016 edition of the festival will no longer be going ahead.

This year’s event was set to feature acts like Aussie rock legends Icehouse, as well as James Reyne & Mark Seymour of Hunters & Collectors, Josh Pyke, Rogue Traders, Ash Grundwald and more.

In a statement, Bondi Beachfest organisers cite financial difficulties as the reason for the cancellation. “Putting a stage on Bondi Beach is difficult to manage and an expensive process to deliver,” organisers say.

“We’d love to put the show on but it’s just not financially viable so we have made the decision not to proceed with the festival in 2016.”

Beachfest organisers say all options to allow the show to go ahead have been explored, but they are unwilling to go ahead with the event if it is to be “anything less than amazing”.

Organisers are also hoping that Beachfest will return “bigger, better and more impressive in the very near future”.

For anyone who has already purchased tickets, refunds are available from point of purchase, while all online tickets will be automatically refunded.

Bondi Beachfest 2016 Cancellation Statement

Putting a stage on Bondi Beach is difficult to manage and an expensive process to deliver.  We’d love to put the show on but it’s just not financially viable so we have made the decision not to proceed with the festival in 2016.

The Bondi Beachfest surf lifestyle brand is key to us. Our plan was and is to establish an “on-the-beach” ecofriendly music event so the last thing we wanted to do was to cancel the show or push ahead with anything less than an amazing event. Decisions like this are really tough to make and we have spent a long time considering all of our options. We had to consider our costs to date as well as our patrons and their experience, and felt we wouldn’t be able to deliver an event that would represent the Beachfest brand properly.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the great team of people that have worked so hard to make these events happen and we extend our thanks to the artists who were to appear.

The announcement today is by no means the end of Beachfest, we will come back bigger, better and more impressive in the very near future.
