AC/DC icon Bon Scott is copping the biopic treatment, with a new movie about to be made right here in Australia by local production companies Halo Films and Protocol Pictures.
Dubbed The Kid From Harvest Road, the flick is currently in the pre-production phase, with young Fremantle actor Lee Tiger Halley (best known for his work in the Netflix limited series Boy Swallows Universe and Aussie comedy series Crazy Fun Park) tapped to star.
AC/DC – ‘It’s A Long Way To The Top’
According to a blurb on Halo Films’ official website, the movie promises to be a “poignant portrayal of the man behind the legend”.
“His path from a cherished yet troubled youth to a prodigious artist is a tale interwoven with the threads of magic and passion,” it adds.
The biopic is being written and director David Vincent Smith and co-written by Stephen Belowsky, who expressed his admiration of Bon Scott in a press statement.
“I was truly inspired by his charismatic character, but what interested me most was his early, life not the caricature we all know on stage,” he said (via Consequence of Sound). “The teen who walked the streets of Fremantle… this is a love letter to Fremantle and Bon reimagined through the eyes of the author.”
While Ian Hale of Halo Films added: “We are thrilled to embark on this journey to illuminate the early years of Bon Scott. His story is one of resilience, passion, and the relentless pursuit of his dreams. Through this film, we aim to honour his legacy and inspire audiences with the transformative power of music and determination”.
After soaring to international success with AC/DC up until their 1979 album Highway To Hell, Bon Scott tragically died of alcohol poisoning in 1980 at the age of just 33.
The movie is scheduled to start filming in early 2025.
