Adele Announces She’s Taking An “Incredibly Long” Hiatus From Music

Adele is going away for a while. The soul-pop superstar has announced plans to take a lengthy break from the music industry.

While wrapping up a 10-date live residency in Germany on Saturday, she told the crowd that show would mark one of her final live performances for the foreseeable future.

“I will not see you for an incredibly long time”

“I’m not the most comfortable performer, I know that, but I am very fucking good at it,” Adele told the crowd. “And I have really enjoyed performing for nearly three years now, which is the longest I’ve ever done and probably the longest I’ll ever do.”

She continued: “I have 10 shows left after this, back in my residency [in Las Vegas] — but after that, I will not see you for an incredibly long time. I will hold you dear in my heart for that whole length of my break, and I will fantasise about these shows and any shows that I’ve done over the last three years.”

Through tears,  Adele then wrapped up by saying, “It has been amazing, I just need a rest. I have spent the last seven years building a new life for myself, and I want to live it now.”

The megastar hitmaker recently got engaged to sports agent Rich Paul, and is contracted to return to Las Vegas to complete her part-cancelled Caesars Palace residency before starting her new chapter.
