The University of Adelaide has announced a new music festival for the city, AdeLOUD. Set to take place in November 2024, the festival is described as “an ode to up-and-coming youth” by organisers, with a focus on the creativity of the university’s students on display. The full line-up and ticketing information can be found below.
Headlining the festival will be Genesis Owusu, returning to Adelaide for the first time in nearly a year following on from his 2023 Struggler national tour. The festival will also feature two UK artists: Yard Act and Nooriyah. The former had already been announced for a national Australian tour in support of their second studio album Where’s My Utopia?, while the latter DJ had already been announced as part of this year’s Strawberry Fields line-up.
Yard Act – ‘We Make Hits’
“From the sun-soaked band stage in the Cloisters to the boiler room-style party furnace inside [the] UniBar, get ready for 10 hours of non-stop music,” the press materials for the festival read. “Marking the end of exams and the start of summer, AdeLOUD invites you to bring your friends along to the University’s heritage cornerstone — where countless memories have been made, and countless more are waiting to unfold.”
The news of a new Adelaide festival comes in the wake of Harvest Rock’s cancellation for 2024, one of many victims of the year’s seemingly-endless run of bad luck for Australian festivals. Organisers wrote that they had made the “difficult decision” to not go ahead with the festival, despite “working hard to create another incredible event.”
