Red Hot Chili Peppers Give Update On Anthony Kiedis’ Health

Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, speaking to Radio X, has induced a global collective sigh of relief in relaying that singer Anthony Kiedis is getting better, and that the band plan to get back on the road this weekend.

Earlier this week, the Chilis had to cancel a planned headlining set at a festival in California after Kiedis was rushed to hospital. The band later cancelled a second show and confirmed that the frontman was suffering from an intestinal flu.

“His stomach was killing him (and) it was really scary. So we went directly to the hospital and we were really upset we couldn’t play for the fans, but also more worried about him,” Smith told the station.

Referring to the tragic deaths of so many high profile musicians this past year, he added, “I know everyone’s freaked out when they hear about another musician going into the hospital. It’s been such a rough year. He’s a very strong man and he”ll be back better than ever.”

The funky foursome are set to play at Rock On The Range in Ohio on Sunday, before skedaddling off to Europe, east Asia, and other parts of North America for a mammoth amount of festival and sideshow appearances for the rest of the year.

What’s more, that’s all in the build-up to their eleventh album, The Getaway, which is set for release on June 17th. You can check out the first single from that record, Dark Necessities, here below.
