Arcade Fire Release ‘Reflektor’ With Two Videos And Album Details

9th September came and went and indie darlings Arcade Fire dropped their brand-new single Reflektor as promised, complete with two videos and a guest appearance from the one and only David Bowie, but they also gave us a bunch of new questions that need answering, revealing a mysterious trailer and giving us some hints about the upcoming full-length record.

First things first – the Anton Corbijn-directed video for Reflektor is a beautifully shot black and white number that sees the Montreal outfit get a little spooky, crawling through a forest and following a man made of mirror ball. It’s in perfect contrast to the song’s ’70s disco groove, bringing out the dark side in that glorious way that only Arcade Fire can.

And David Bowie has confirmed that he supplied backing vocals on the single, with Ziggy Stardust himself posting about his involvement on Facebook, as well as officially revealing the cover art of the limited edition 12″ that contains Reflektor.

The single’s digital release has also revealed some more info about the forthcoming album. According to iTunes, the full length release, due 29th October, will also be called Reflektor, with album art depicting the Greek legend of Orpheus and Eurydice (below).

The tease ain’t over just yet, though. Along with updating thereflektors.com with the beautiful image above, the band have uploaded a new 30-second trailer to the The Reflektors YouTube channel, which appears to have been shot in Haiti (below). They’ve also dropped a second video for the single via www.justareflektor.com, an interactive virtual projection by collaborator Vincent Morisset that gives viewers the opportunity to control the special effects in the video – watch (or use) it here.

With seven weeks to go until the Reflektor LP is upon us, we’re sure the Canadian outfit will be busy dreaming up a million different ways to tease their new music and we can’t wait. Reflektor is out 29th October and Arcade Fire headline the Big Day Out next January.
