Arcade Fire‘s recent California shows made headlines after the band serenaded a man as he proposed to his girlfriend during their Mountain View concert, then performed a hard rock medley two nights later in Los Angeles. The band covered songs by Jane’s Addiction and Guns N’ Roses.
During the Canadian art rockers’ show at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California on Wednesday, a man in the front row surprised his girlfriend by popping the question during the band’s performance of Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels) from 2004’s Funeral. After realising what was unfolding before him, frontman Win Butler handed the couple his mic and proceeded with a serenade.
After mimicking Paul McCartney’s recent antics, the band made like Jack White during their show at the LA Forum. As an intro to their song Here Comes the Night Time, Arcade Fire played excerpts from Jane’s Addiction’s Been Caught Stealing and Guns N’ Roses’ classic Welcome to the Jungle.
