Atreyu Announce Their Return

Atreyu have announced the end of their three-year hiatus. The Orange County metalcore favourites have taken to their Facebook to share a video teaser that suggests big things await Atreyu fans in 2014. The band will be celebrating their comeback with a set at California’s Aftershock Festival.

“Atreyu is pleased to announce we are making new music together and have plans to resume playing live again, starting with our main stage appearance at Aftershock [Festival],” write the band on Facebook. “This is for the fans, this is for us, and this is for the music. LONG LIVE ATREYU.”

“To say we are looking forward to playing [Aftershock Festival] is an understatement,” frontman Alex Varkatzas told Loudwire. “It’s been three-plus years since we have rocked the stage as brothers, and to be playing with all these high caliber bands, in the state that we call home, is truly awesome.”

The band’s most recent album was 2009’s Congregation of the Damned and the last we heard from the band, Varkatzas was indicating that they were contemplating releasing new music as a free giveaway to fans. He stressed that plans were tentative and wanting to avoid “major label BS.”
