Nick Cave is the latest Australian musician to be profiled on ABC TV docuseries Australian Story, with an episode dedicated to him set to air on the national broadcaster this coming Monday night (August 12th). It follows on from episodes of the program dedicated to both Cold Chisel and AC/DC‘s late vocalist Bon Scott earlier this year, as well as episodes on Silverchair and Parkway Drive that aired during 2023 and 2022 respectively.
The show’s host, Leigh Sales, has described her interview with Cave as “an extraordinary conversation” – which will not only touch on the upcoming new album from Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Wild God, but also the devastating loss of Cave’s two sons Arthur (in 2015) and Jethro (in 2022). A trailer for the episode depicts footage of Cave both in the studio and on stage, with Cave quoted as saying: “That idea that art trounces everything… it just doesn’t apply to me anymore.”

Wild God is set for release on Friday, August 30th via [PIAS]. Three singles have been lifted from the album thus far: The title track in March, ‘Frogs’ in May and ‘Long Dark Night’ in July. Cave completed a solo tour of Australia earlier this year, many shows of which were completely sold out. On the run, Cave performed on the piano with accompaniment from Radiohead‘s Colin Greenwood on bass.
Cave’s episode of Australian Story will air on ABC TV at 8pm local time on Monday, August 12th. It will also be available to stream via ABC iView and the ABC News In-Depth YouTube page.
