Azealia Banks Begs To Be Dropped From Record Label

In a scathing online rant Azealia Banks has taken to Twitter “begging” to be dropped by her record label Universal. The rapper, known to vent her frustrations via the social media site, told followers yesterday, “I REALLY should have signed with Sony”.

The New York rapper hit out at her current label, expressing dissatisfaction with the numerous delays that her debut album Broke With Expensive Taste has faced since she signed with Universal. “I’m tired of having to consult a group of old white guys about my black girl craft. They don’t even know what they’re listening for or to,” she wrote.

Banks then added, “I’m literally begging to be dropped from Universal.” The 212 artist then urged Universal to hand her over to another label, like XL, for which she was once signed under a development deal. “Universal needs to just hand me over to another label who knows what to do with me,” she wrote.

“My fans really need some new music. I’ve been gratefully riding off of mixtape fumes for the past two years but I’m more ready than ever,” she concluded, then announced to fans she would drown her sorrows in some “wings”. But not before adding in some illuminating hashtags, “#lifeofahumancommodity #universaldoesntcare #theyreatthegrammys #hotwings.”

Banks’ long-delayed Broke With Expensive Taste was originally scheduled for release in September 2012. January 2014 was the most recent release date given for the album but recent reports are hinting that the album won’t be dropped until March. Read Banks’ tweets below.
