Azealia Banks Calls Aussie Audiences “Terrible”, “Violent” & “Belligerent”

Only days after performing at Splendour In The Grass 2015, American controversy magnet Azealia Banks has spoken her mind about Australian audiences, calling them “terrible crowds” who are “violent and belligerent”.

Taking to Twitter, Banks sprang into action after Brisbane radio announcer Paul Brown poked fun at her well-known tendency to play super-short sets.

Brown tweeted, “Hey everyone let’s say Congratulations to @AZEALIABANKS for completing her First Ever Full Australian Concert at @SITG. Spewin I missed it.”

In reply, Banks had some strong words for Brown and fellow Aussie punters, saying:

“Because in all actuality, you guys are terrible crowds to play for. You’re violent and belligerent and I simply will not put my safety at risk. I would’ve walked off stage had someone thrown something.”

It didn’t stop there, though, as the rapper closed by making things a little more geographical.

“Plus you guys are too far away and honestly, the show guarantees are never really worth the trip,” Banks tweeted. “But I love my fans and will do anything to make them happy. Sincerely, AB.” Read her full series of tweets, below.

This isn’t the first time Banks has had a Twitter beef involving Australia, having called Australian-born rapper Iggy Azalea “Igloo Australia” late last year as she called her out over “wannabe black girl shit”.

UPDATE 29/07/15: Azealia Banks has now taken aim at Splendour itself, calling the festival “a waste of my fucking time”.
