Baker Boy and Mojo Juju have cleaned up at the 2019 National Indigenous Music Awards, taking out some of the most prestigious gongs at last night’s ceremony in Darwin.

Trilingual hip-hop artist Baker Boy took out the ‘Artist Of The Year’ category, while Wiradjuri R’n’B, hip-hop and soul artist Mojo Juju won both the ‘Album Of The Year’ and ‘Song Of The Year’ categories, both for ‘Native Tongue’.

Also honoured with induction into the NIMA Hall Of Fame were folk trio Tiddas and Cairns jazz pioneer Wilma Reading.

Speaking prior to the ceremony, National Indigenous Music Awards Reference Group Chair, Warren H. Williams, said Indigenous music has continued to rise to top in Australia, he says it’s, “pushing boundaries and finding its place at the forefront of art in our country.”
