Beddy Rays Announce New Album ‘Do What You Wanna’

Brisbane coastie punk-rock favourites Beddy Rays have a new album on the way. Their hotly anticipated sophomore LP, dubbed Do What Ya Wanna, is due to reach our ears on Friday, 18th April 2025.

To celebrate, the four-piece have given us our third lick of the record in the form of new single ‘Red Lights’, which you can check out below.

Beddy Rays – ‘Red Lights’

Following on from previous singles ‘Stay The Same’ and ‘Hold On’, ‘Red Lights’ encapsulates the band’s signature larrikin-punk energy while exploring themes of ‘otherness’, self-discovery and giving yourself the time and space to figure it all out.

“’Red Lights’ is the lead single of our next record Do What Ya Wanna,” the band explain in a press statement. “We chose this song because we feel like it sets the tone for the record. It’s about overcoming adversity, going through tough times but remaining positive and growing from those moments. Hoping it will resonate with those going through a tough time as it’s a reminder that things will always get better.”

The song also comes packing a western-inspired music video directed, produced and edited by Natalie Sim, which you can peep up above.

As for Beddy Rays’ forthcoming second album, Do What Ya Wanna, it’s described as a natural evolution of the band’s sound, nodding to the early eras of punk icons like Green Day and Weezer, while invoking the melodic expansiveness of bands like Catfish and the Bottlemen and tackling themes of mateship, mental health and self-discovery.

Frontman Jacko reflects: “This album is us – our highs, our lows, and everything in between. Writing it was a way to make  sense of all the craziness life throws at you, but it’s also about not taking yourself too seriously and enjoying the ride. That’s what Beddy Rays is all about.”
