Belle And Sebastian To Tour Australia Early 2015

Glaswegian indie pop heroes Belle and Sebastian, already announced as part of the New Zealand leg of St Jerome’s Laneway Festival, are set to announce an Australian headline tour for January and February 2015.

Music Feeds understands the longstanding ensemble, led by charismatic frontman Stuart Murdoch, will embark on a string of headlining dates across Australian theatre venues early next year after they wrap up their NZ commitments.

The group, returning to Australia after a four year absence, will kick off their Australian tour at The Tivoli in Brisbane on Wednesday 28th January before moving on to Sydney, then Melbourne, and rounding things off in Perth.

Just last week the band announced the arrival of their highly anticipated ninth studio album, Girls In Peacetime Want To Dance, which will be released in Australia on Friday, 16th January, just in time for their tour Down Under.

Even as they move forward, Belle And Sebastian’s sights are — as always — well and truly fixed in the rear view. Fans can expect shows packed with the band’s trademark sentimental, nostalgic tunes from the band’s extensive catalogue, covering 1996’s formation-era debut Tigermilk through the band’s most recent output.

Murdoch’s directorial debut, a sort of Belle and Sebastian fantasy origin story biopic titled God Help The Girl, recently enjoyed a limited release run in Australian cinemas after sold-out screenings at MIFF 2014.

The band have also just announced the re-issue of their entire vinyl catalogue, including brand-new artwork for their Mercury Music Prize and Ivor Novello nominated Dear Catastrophe Waitress, details for which you can find at their official website.

Supports for each Australian show will be provided by ascendant Melbourne indie foursome Twerps. See all tour dates, venue details and ticket details, below.
