Best Coast have today fired the first warning shot from their highly anticipated forthcoming mini-album Fade Away. Titled This Lonely Morning, the track is a smooth, well-polished introduction to the surf punk vibes Fade Away will dabble in.
Best Coast is a totally different, much faster beast than the days of their debut Crazy For You, but the deeply personal subject matter draped over the loosey-goosey drums and stoner guitar work on This Lonely Morning should make longtime fans feel right at home.
The track shows growth in both front lady Bethany Cosentino and her master-of-all-trades partner-in-crime Bobb Bruno. Working with the band in the studio was iTunes Original sessions master Wally Gagel, who worked previously with the band in 2011.
Fade Away will be released Friday, 18th October with Best Coast heading back into the studio this November to work on a new normal-sized album, expected to drop next year.
