Bibio Returns With Third Full-Length Album ‘Silver Wilkinson’

British producer Stephen Wilkinson, better known by his street name Bibio, has delighted fans the world over with news that his much-coveted third semi-self-titled studio album Silver Wilkinson will be unleashed upon us in May.

Over a period of two albums time, Wilkinson has grown to become identified by his eclectic style and album number 3 is sure to be no different. The overall process seems much more about letting the song blossom on its own rather than forcing it, with the producer adopting a “let nature take its course” attitude to the record.

Speaking on the release, he says, “I like the idea of comparing albums to seasons – they stand alone yet are part of a bigger story. They complement each other. So this album, to an extent, started out with the desire for a new ‘season’, contrasting somewhat with the previous.”

Wilkinson tracked a large amount of the album while holed up in his studio, but he also explored several different spaces, seeking anything that could possibly reverberate noise for additional flavour. “With the song Dye The Water Green,” he recalls, “I remember going into my brick-wall shed in the garden for a change of scenery and to capture the sound of rain on the tin roof. I remember feeling at the time that I wouldn’t have come up with the same things if I was in my studio. I think putting yourself in different environments affects how you feel and act and essentially can lead to more variety.”

Silver Wilkinson will drop Monday, 13th May.
