Big Day Out Partners With Lollapalooza Promoters

Big Day Out announced this morning a partnership with C3 Presents, the promoters of the legendary Lollapalooza Festival and Austin City Limits Music Festival.

Music Network reports that it will be a massive market leading move by Ken West, one of the original founders of Big Day Out Festival. This will enable greater artist buying power and a genuine platform for expansion. The partnership will also offer more opportunities for Australian and international artists to appear across the Northern and Southern Hemispheres.

This should result in Big Day Out having a better competitive edge in our festival market, after line-up problems, partner Vivian Lee’s quitting, and pressure from punters almost caused the festival to be cancelled.

Ken West has spoken about the partnership, saying “I could not have found more creatively-sympathetic, commercially-dynamic and like-minded partners than the guys at C3. We remain a locally-passionate music business but can revel and excel in what this new global relationship and its combined wealth of knowledge and experience can bring for Australian audiences and Australian and international artists.”

Charlie Walker from C3 Presents talks about working with Big Day Out:x “C3 is thrilled to be entering this creative partnership with Big Day Out and are honored to become a part of the outstanding 20 year legacy that the festival has created.”

Both festivals share a 20 year history, and share the same ‘alternative spirit’ earnt from showcasing many top bands over the years. Both the Austin City Limits Music Festival and Lollapalooza draw over 200,000 people annually, with Lollapalooza recently expanding into Latin America. In addition, C3’s talent division books and promotes more than 1,000 concerts across the US and are pioneering the South American festival and touring industry.
