Big Thief’s Buck Meek Announces Solo 2025 Australian Tour

Buck Meek, best known as the lead guitarist and one of the founding members of Big Thief, has announced his first-ever run of Australian shows as a solo artist. The tour takes place two-and-a-half years after Meek was last in Australia with Big Thief, undertaking a national tour in November 2022. The full run of dates, as well as pre-sale and ticketing information, can be found below.

The official announcement of Meek’s solo maiden voyage to Australia was pre-empted by the announcement he would be joining Cat Power at the Melbourne date of her Cat Power Does Dylan Australian tour. As the title suggests, the show sees Cat Power recreating Bob Dylan‘s infamous 1966 performance at the Manchester Free Trade Hall where he “went electric” halfway through.

Joining Meek for all of his headlining solo dates is Germaine Dunes, a Dutch singer-songwriter who is also Meek’s wife. She released her debut studio album, Midnight Game, in March of 2023 – with Buck featuring on the track ‘Nevermore’. These will also mark Dunes’ first Australian shows.

Meek began pursuing a solo career outside of Big Thief in 2018, releasing his self-titled debut album. Its follow-up Two Saviors followed in January of 2021, with Meek’s latest solo album Haunted Mountain arriving in August of 2023. Big Thief’s latest album, Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You, was released in February 2022.
