BIGSOUND 2015 Speaker Lineup Expands

Australia’s biggest music industry conference, BIGSOUND, just got even bigger, with almost 30 new speakers added to the event’s impressive list of special guests, including Pitchfork‘s Jessica Hopper (pictured) and music industry wiz Marc Geiger.

Come September, Hopper will make a keynote speech at BIGSOUND 2015, drawing on her years of experience as a music and arts critic. Hopper, who is now senior editor of Pitchfork and editor-in-chief of The Pitchfork Review, released her latest book, The First Collection of Criticism by a Living Female Rock Critic, earlier this year.

Geiger, who will also make a keynote speech, is a partner and Head of Music at William Morris Endeavour Entertainment, looking after live bookings for acts such as Jack White, Neil Diamond, The Flaming Lips, Lady Gaga, Janelle Monae, Nine Inch Nails, Tom Petty, Pixies, Trent Reznor and Rihanna. His experience and influence extends to A&R, marketing, new media, and even festivals, having co-created Lollapalooza.

BIGSOUND’s latest lineup announcement also includes a stack of other industry figures, artists, journalists, promoters and managers. Catch the full updated list of BIGSOUND 2015 speakers, below.

The event’s first speaker announcement featured the likes of parliamentarian and Midnight Oil frontman Peter Garrett, rapper and activist Brother Ali and a host of other super-experienced industry peeps.

The conference’s lineup of musical performances also includes sets from acts such as Stonefield, Muscles, Gang Of Youths, Holy Holy, The John Steel Singers and Slum Sociable.

QMusic Executive Office Joel Edmondson says, “BIGSOUND 2015 is shaping up to be incredibly diverse. The calibre of global industry leaders who can help the careers of the artists showcasing has never been more exciting.”

BIGSOUND 2015 will take over Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley from 9th September. Catch the full lineup of speakers alongside ticket details, below.

UPDATE 19/08/15: The final speakers for this year’s BIGSOUND conference have been announced, including the likes of NME’s new music editor Matt Wilkinson and triple j‘s Zan Rowe. Catch the full, updated list, below.
