Billie Eilish is the first headliner announced for the 2022 Glastonbury Festival.
The festival will take place in June 2022 at Worthy Farm in Somerset, England. It’ll mark a return to in-person festivities for Glastonbury after the 2020 and 2021 events were cancelled. Earlier this year, the organisers presented the pre-recorded show, Live From Worthy Farm, which included performances from Coldplay, Damon Albarn, Wolf Alice and HAIM.
Eilish will be 20 years old by the time the festival rolls around, making her the youngest ever solo headliner in the festival’s 50 year history. On that note, 2020 was set to be a special 50th anniversary event. Paul McCartney, Kendrick Lamar and Taylor Swift had been confirmed as headliners on a lineup that also featured Diana Ross, Crowded House, Spice Girls and Sinead O’Connor.
Eilish is the first act announced for next year’s festival. It’s not her first time, though: a 17-year-old Eilish entertained the masses from the main stage at Glastonbury 2019. This time she’ll be headlining the Pyramid Stage on Friday, 24th June.
“This feels like the perfect way for us to return and I cannot wait,” said organiser Emily Eavis.
