Blink 182, 5 Seconds Of Summer & Steve Aoki Are Making Music Together

Written by Zanda Wilson on March 23, 2016

It looks like there’s a very strange new collaboration heading our way soon. Eccentric American producer Steve Aoki has tweeted a bunch of studio session photos of himself, Travis Barker and Mark Hoppus from Blink 182, one of Blink’s producers John Feldmann, and Callum Hood from 5 Seconds Of Summer, signalling that something is brewing.

Aoki furthered the intrigue, captioning the images with such teasers as: “Big things coming”, “working on something epic” and “some serious home brew we cookin up in the kitchen”.

Given that Barker declared Blink 182’s own soon-to-be released album finished earlier this month, it’s safe to assume that any potential collabs will be from Steve’ Aoki’s own new album Neon Future III. Especially since one tweet included the hashtag #neonfutureIII.

Not everyone was excited about Aoki’s announcement, with 5SOS’s Michael Clifford left wondering where his invitation was. Aoki’s response suggested that the session time had been producer John Feldmaan’s idea, not his.

This wouldn’t be the first time that Barker and Aoki have worked together, they released a track called Misfits back in 2011.

The release date for Neon Future III has not yet been announced.
