UK-based folk singer-songwriter Newton Faulkner has blessed Aussie fans with a brand new single, in honour of his current visit to our shores for Bluesfest 2024 and a bunch of associated headline dates.
The artist, who’ll be performing two shows at iconic Newcastle venue Lizotte’s today and tonight before hitting the stage at Bluesfest in Byron Bay over Easter, says the song ‘Never Have I Ever’ is a gift to his fans down under.
Newton Faulkner – ‘Never Have I Ever’
“Australia was the first international place to get behind my music,” the artist explains in a press statement. “To have fans on the other side of the world was mind blowing. We have always tried to come back regularly as the gigs and festivals have always been so fun. This time I didn’t want to come back empty handed, so this song is a small gift from me to Australia and the wonderful fans I’ve been so lucky to play in front of over the years.”
‘Never Have I Ever’ is an acoustic folk track powered by Faulkner’s soulful vocals and an underlying message of hope and optimism.
“I wrote this song as birthday present to my wife, just after all the Covid lock downs in the UK,” he adds. “It was the ultimate test of any relationship, spending every second together and not even being allowed to leave the house, also we had to be extra careful because she was pregnant at the time. It was tough and I wanted her to know that we didn’t just get through it, but I’d actually never loved her more.”
