Bluesfest Announces Neil Young To Headline Its 2017 Lineup

UPDATE 5/10/2016: Neil Young has announced a 2017 Australian headline tour.

UPDATE 02/12/16: Neil Young has cancelled his Australian tour, including his headlining appearance at Bluesfest 2017.

ORIGINAL STORY: Bluesfest 2017 just got even bigger, with the addition of a legendary act as the Byron Bay festival’s headline. Neil Young and his band Promise Of The Real will head to Australia next year to play the event, and it’s not just any festival set — they will play a mammoth three-hour show.

This will be the first time Young has played in Australia since he toured here with Crazy Horse back in 2013. This time around he’s bringing along Promise Of The Real, which is fronted by Willie Nelson’s sons Lukas Nelson and Micah Nelson. Young recorded his latest album Earth with the band, and they will no doubt knock out a few tunes from that record at Bluesfest 2017.

Young is the latest act to be added to next year’s huge Bluesfest lineup, which already included the likes of Santana, Zac Brown Band, Mary J. Blige and The Doobie Brothers. Organisers are also teasing the addition of another big-name act on Sunday, 9th October.

It’s pretty hard to get any bigger than Young though. According to organisers, every year they ask festival attendees who they want to play Bluesfest and every year Young tops the poll.
