Having only recently announced a massive 2015 lineup featuring The Black Keys and Train, Byron Bay Bluesfest organisers are already gearing up to drop their second announcement on Tuesday, 14th October and have promised the world premiere reunion of “one of the greatest bands around the globe”.
In addition to a second announcement that is “jam packed with great artists”, and a lineup that is shaping up to be one of the beloved blues, roots, and folk festival’s best in recent memory, the organisers have promised that the announcement of the reuniting band is sure to become “international news“.
While organisers stress that they “can’t give too much away”, speculation is already surrounding Creedence Clearwater Revival after organisers wrote on their website that the second announcement is “comin’ up around the bend” – a possible reference to the band’s 1970 single Up Around the Bend.
Meanwhile, Uncut reported late last year that Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood have “ear-marked 2015” for a reunion of their classic group, The Faces. Stewart recently announced a series of Australian shows that will see him making his way Down Under around the time that Bluesfest will kick off.
In August, The Kinks‘ Ray Davies told Mojo that he would reunite the legendary British Invasion group for a tour and new album next year, regardless of whether his brother and founding member Dave Davies participates. Other names speculated include Midnight Oil and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.
Bluesfest organisers announced the first lineup for 2015 early last month, with Alabama Shakes, George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, and more also set to descend on the Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm next April.
