The London-based duo Bob Vylan has dropped their highly anticipated album, Humble As The Sun, along with a music video for ‘Reign’. The album is independently released via Ghost Theatre, and has been hailed as a beacon of hope and empowerment in turbulent times.
Bob Vylan’s Bobby Vylan shared the meaning behind their new single“This album is for the underdogs, the ones who come out swinging and those who refuse to be defeated in the face of injustice, and aims to remind listeners that anger is a fire that can be harnessed and put to use.
He further shared.” The album creation started from a conversation with the sun, which is, after all, a big ball of fire that sustains life. From masculinity to myths about the G Spot, the themes and topics explored on ‘Humble As The Sun’ make for an often humorously empowering celebration of the peoples ability to endure, overcome and bring about change.”
Bob Vylan – ‘Reign’
The album’s lead single, ;Reign,’ accompanied by a powerful music video, exemplifies the duo’s evolving sound and unyielding message. Bobby Vylan, one half of the duo, explains the significance of the track states “Reign felt like a perfect focus track to release on the day of the album as it is powerful, self affirming and pulls no punches when speaking of one’s own value as well as discussing social issues and even touching on some of the issues we’ve found in the music industry. For the video we wanted to emphasise the Moor aspect of the song, so we wanted to make it regal and powerful with vivid colours. But the second half takes a turn, and becomes powerful”
The album maintains the raw energy and urgency that have defined Bob Vylan’s previous work, but with a newfound strength and wisdom. The album blends punk, rock, grime, and rap in experimental ways, leaving listeners feeling empowered.
With previous singles like “He’s A Man,” “Dream Big,” and “Hunger Games” setting the stage, “Humble As The Sun” cements Bob Vylan’s position as a force to be reckoned with in the music scene and beyond.
