Producer Simon Green – aka Bonobo – has shared the second single from forthcoming album Fragments. ‘Tides’ a lush, grooving cut that features singer-songwriter Jamila Woods and closes with stunning string section courtesy of Miguel Atwood-Ferguson.
“When I first heard Jamila’s vocal she had recorded I knew instantly I had a centrepiece for the album,” commented Green in a statement. “Lyrically it captured everything the project was about. This track was a real turning point in the process of finishing the album and Miguel Atwood-Ferguson’s incredible string parts at the end brought the whole thing to another level.”
Echoing Green’s sentiments, Woods said she “connected with the track as soon as [she] heard it”, adding: “It felt like rain and waves to me before I even knew the project had a theme of cycles and tides, so it all came together very organically.”
Green announced Tides earlier this month alongside lead single ‘Rosewood’. Set to arrive on Friday, 14th January via Ninja Tune, the follow-up to 2017’s Migration will also feature contributions from the likes of Joji, Kadhja Bonet and Jordan Rakei.
