Booker T, Rickie Lee Jones & More Announce Bluesfest 2017 Sideshows

A couple of weeks back, Bluesfest 2017 unveiled its first batch of sideshows from artists populating the lineup. Now, another batch of sideshows have been announced featuring even more of the event’s world-class roster.

First up is the great Booker T, who will be performing an anthology of songs from the iconic Stax Records repertoire, most of which were written by his good self. Armed with his trumpet and flanked by backup singers, Booker will be paying homage to some of the greatest soul classics from the seminal record label across just two shows.

The proclaimed “Duchess of Coolsville”, Rickie Lee Jones, will also be venturing away from the festival grounds for a run of shows in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and Cairns, spreading the love just about all over our fair nation. Grammy winning jazz, soul and gospel singer Gregory Porter will be doing a much more refined run of just two shows in Sydney and Melbourne.

The UK’s own Laura Mvula has already impressed the likes of Jill Scott, Erykah Badu and Prince all the while being compared to Nina Simone. You’ll be able to get up close and personal with soulful singer during her run of shows down the east coast.

Ukulele savant Jake Shimabukuro is now locked in for headline shows in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, and due to crazy demand, the great Bonnie Rait has announced she too will be stopping off in Brisbane.

Wrapping up the list is Michael Kiwanuka, who will be backing up his performance at Splendour In The Grass earlier this year with the Bluesfest performance and two headline shows.
