BREAKING: Groovin The Moo 2024 Cancelled

Organisers of Groovin The Moo have just announced the regional Australian festival’s shock cancellation. The 2024 instalment of the event was scheduled to take place this April and May across seven regional dates in Wayville (SA), Canberra (ACT), Bendigo (VIC), Newcastle (NSW), Sunshine Coast (QLD) and Bunbury (WA). The cancellation marks the second in the festival’s 19-year lifespan, following its cancellation in 2020 due to the then-emerging COVID-19 pandemic.

In a statement posted to social media, GTM promoters said:

“We are extremely disappointed to announce that the Groovin the Moo 2024 tour has been forced to cancel. Ticket sales have not been sufficient to deliver a regional festival of this kind.

All tickets will be refunded automatically.

Thank you to everybody who has supported the festival.

We hope to be able to bring Groovin the Moo back to regional communities in the future.

There will be no further comments from Groovin the Moo at this stage.”

A number of international artists from the ill-fated Groovin The Moo 2024 lineup had already announced their own Australian headline tour dates, hitting the metropolitan markets in capital cities. Among them were US rapper Armani White, UK indie-rockers The Kooks, Canadian act The Beaches, American singer-songwriter Claire Rosinkranz, British/South African singer Kenya Grace and Nashville retro-pop artist Stephen Sanchez. At the time of writing, all tour dates announced outside of the festival schedule were still rescheduled to go ahead in April and May 2024.

A stack of local artists were also slated to feature on the bill for GTM2024, including San Cisco, Mallrat, DMA’s, The Grogans and Jet. triple j, meanwhile, had only just yesterday announced an Unearthed competition for local artists to open the festival.
