Briggs And Thelma Plum Team Up For New Track ‘Go To War’

Briggs and Thelma Plum have joined forces on powerful new song ‘Go To War’, marking the second single that Briggs has released this year.

In addition to the single’s release, Briggs has announced his first EP in six years, Always Was – marking his first since 2014’s Sheplife. Both ‘Go To War’ and Briggs’ first 2020 single ‘Extra Extra’ will feature on Always Was.

“After every avenue is exhausted and every word has been said, every bridge has been crossed or burnt, Go To War is about ‘having it up to here’ and asking yourself, ‘is this where you want to be?’,” Briggs said of the song in a press statement.

I wrote this in the booth, with producer Jayteehazard, over one day in the studio. I’d imagined Thelma being on the song when I was cooking it up, and we threw some ideas back and forth and knocked it out over another day. The song is about fearlessness. When you get pushed too far and you’re backed into a corner and there’s very little recourse.”

Alongside the single, Briggs has also unveiled a strong music video, featuring Thelma, as well as an almost entirely Indigenous cast including the Muggera Dancers, Barkaa, Nooky, Kobie Dee, and Scottie Marsh.

Always Was is out Friday, 21st August.
