Britney Spears’ Dad Speaks Out About Conservatorship, #FreeBritney Movement

Britney Spears’ father, Jamie Spears has finally spoken on the #FreeBritney movement and details relating to her conservatorship. He said he’s being painted as a villain and the accusations around him taking advantage of the conservatorship are “a joke”.

Speaking with Page Six, Jamie Spears said, “All these conspiracy theorists don’t know anything. The world don’t have a clue.”

“It’s up to the court of California to decide what’s best for my daughter. It’s no one else’s business.”

He reportedly angrily denied accusations that he’s skimming money off Britney’s estate too. He said, “I have to report every nickel and dime spent to the court every year… How the hell would I steal something?”

Spears also reported that angry fans have been stalking and targeting them with death threats. “It’s horrible. We don’t want those kinds of fans.”

“I love my daughter… I love all my kids. But this is our business. It’s private.”

He’s had conservatorship over Britney Spears since 2008, following her 2007 breakdown.

In case you missed it, the #FreeBritney movement started getting momentum again recently. Basically, news of Britney’s conservatorship resurfaced and rumours and theories around her situation spiralled on TikTok.

Fans began commenting on her posts, asking her to wear certain colours and complete random tasks like spinning or blinking in a video.

Meanwhile, other fans on TikTok have combed through Britney Spears’ posts looking for and linking what they believe to be clues or hints from the singer.

Spears was set to attend a virtual court hearing in Los Angeles for her conservatorship late last month. The ABC reports that leaked court documents show she didn’t attend. The hearing is now to continue on Wednesday, 19th August.

Fans recently launched a change.org petition to try and secure her a lawyer to help her exit the conservatorship.
