UPDATE: BROCKHAMPTON Part Ways With Ameer Vann Following Sexual Misconduct Allegations
ORIGINAL STORY: Rap group BROCKHAMPTON have finally addressed sexual misconduct allegations against member Ameer Vann, just days after it was announced they are playing this year’s Listen Out festival.
Earlier this month, Vann denied the allegations — which included alleged sexual misconduct and emotional abuse — but did admit to wrongdoing in previous relationships.

Now, frontman Kevin Abstract has taken to Instagram Live to address the allegations and what they mean for the group’s future, saying, “I should have said something, I shouldn’t have been quiet for so long.
“We’re probably gonna push the album back but I still want a single to come out next month,” Abstract said.
“Having to deal with family problems in front of the world is very difficult, and I’m sorry if this isn’t enough… it’s heavy and I also understand if you’re mad and completely over it.”
The group’s fourth album Puppy was slated for a June release, but that is now looking unlikely. Abstract also added that he doesn’t really feel comfortable touring without properly addressing these allegations publicly.
“I also didn’t feel comfortable going into tour without addressing this because I know that, like, the BROCKHAMPTON concert is the one place where people feel like, you know, they fit in there if they don’t fit in at school or with their families, or whatever,” he said.
“And it really — it just fucking hurts and sucks.”
Abstract did make note that he doesn’t agree with anything Ameer has “admitted to”, and stressed that the band holds each other accountable when they make mistakes.
Listen Out has confirmed to triple j that, after getting confirmation from the group this morning, their performances in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane this September are still scheduled to go ahead.
