Caribou Announces New Album ‘Suddenly’, Drops New Song ‘You And I’

Electronic maestro Dan Snaith – AKA Caribou – has announced his first album in five years with Suddenly. Snaith’s last album under the Caribou name was 2014’s brilliant Our Love, but he released album Joli Mai through his more dance-oriented Daphni moniker back in 2017.

Back in October, Snaith released the first single from the album, entitled ‘Home’.

Now, he’s followed it up with ‘You and I’. Drenched in Snaith’s trademark warm synths interspersed with eclectic samples and a hyperactive guitar solo, it retains the classic Caribou sound while taking some more sudden and unexpected sonic turns, which is apparently indicative of the album more broadly.

“‘You and I’ was one of the first tracks on the album that I started and one of the last tracks I finished – it existed in some form or other throughout the whole arc of making the record,” says Snaith about the song.

“It also captures a lot of what the record, and the title of the album, are about – the track changes suddenly and unpredictably and it is about a change in my life that happened out of the blue.”

Listen to ‘You and I’ below. Suddenly is scheduled for release on Friday, 28th February via City Slang and Inertia.
