Written by Laura English on November 8, 2019

If you’re on the scout for something to do this weekend we have the perfect thing for you. The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra will be performing the music of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi in concert in Melbourne tonight and tomorrow night.

The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra will be presenting Oscar-winning composer, John Williams’ musical score to the sixth episode of the Star Wars series, Return of the Jedi in concert, led by conductor Benjamin Northey.

“This movie is such a masterpiece, the unmasking of Darth Vader remains a seminal moment in cinematic history,” says Northey. “John Williams once again enhances the drama through his perfect use of music and dramaturgy. I am beyond excited to conduct this score!”

It’s your chance to see the ultimate battle between Luke and [SPOILER] his father Darth Vader while the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra brings John Williams’ score to life.

There’ll also be pre-concert talks where you can learn more about the score for the film. You’ll hear from experts: Dr Dan Golding and Andrew Pogson from The Art of the Score podcast.
