Brooklyn indie electro-pop duo Chairlift will return to Australia next year to do some tour dates on the back of their appearance on the St Jerome’s Lanway 2012 line-up in January and February.
Members Caroline Polachek and Patrick Wimberly first captured the attention of international listeners with their breakout single Bruise and debut record Does You Inspire You in 2008. They displayed a range of uncanny pop sensibilities, combining polished production with an other-worldly gaze similar to fellow Brooklyn experimentalists MGMT, Yeasayer and Mixel Pixel.
Chairlift have spent the last year huddled away in the spare room of an antique shop, producing their forthcoming record Something, which should be due out early 2012. First single Amanaemonesia was released in September.
