Chelsea Wolfe has announced her return to Australia, bringing her full band for a run of theatre dates in major capital cities. The tour comes in support of her seventh solo album She Reaches Out To She Reaches Out To She [sic], which was released back in February. The full list of tour dates can be found below.
Joining Wolfe and her band for the tour will be Australian drone and noise artist Uboa. Describing her sound as “catgirl death industrial”, her support slot comes following the release of her sixth album, Impossible Light, this past June. Following the conclusion of the Australian tour, Wolfe and her band will also head to New Zealand for two dates: Meow Nui in Wellington on Thursday, May 29th and the Powerstation in Auckland on Friday, May 30th. After her first tour of Australia circa 2012, her attempts to tour thereafter – save for a one-off at 2016’s Dark MOFO – were born under a bad sign. She announced her return to the mainland of Australia with a 2018 tour, but promptly cancelled those dates following allegations coming to light about tour promoter Dave Cutbush of Life Is Noise. She then announced an Australian tour for June 2020, only for that tour to also be cancelled – this time on account of COVID-19.
Chelsea Wolfe – ‘Tunnel Lights’
Wolfe finally made her return to Australia in June of 2022, some four years after she had originally planned to come back. Originally planned as a full-band tour, Wolfe’s run with Emma Ruth Rundle was converted into a solo tour after a member of her touring party (separate from her) contracted COVID-19. Wolfe’s tour also included a return appearance at that year’s Dark MOFO.
