Chvrches have called out producer, Marshmello in a statement on Twitter for his new track with Chris Brown and Tyga, ‘Light It Up’.
The indie-pop group worked with Marshmello on their latest single ‘Here With Me’.
In a statement, Chvrches said, “We are really upset, confused and disappointed by Marshmello’s choice to work with Tyga and Chris Brown.
“We like and respect Mello as a person but working with people who are predators and abusers enables, excuses and ultimately tacitly endorses that behavior. That is not something we can or will stand behind,” they said.
Chris Brown was first arrested for felony assault back in 2009 of his girlfriend at the time, Rihanna.
Since then, he’s been arrested for rape allegations, felony battery, and for suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
Tyga faced criticisms back in 2015 when he released ‘Pleazer’ which featured the lyrics, “T nasty, ’bout to catch a felony for it/ Vagina juice like orange juice in the mornin’.
At the time of release, Tyga was dating Kylie Jenner who was only 17.
Then, in 2016 a 14-year-old girl revealed she’d had “unwanted and uncomfortable” contact with Tyga via Instagram and cut off conversation when he asked to meet up in person.
