Cigarettes After Sex Announce 2025 Australian Tour

Cigarettes After Sex have announced three dates in Australia for March 2025. The shows will be taking place as part of the band’s world tour in support of their third studio album X’s, which is set for release this July via Partisan Records. It will mark their first shows in Australia in over seven years, following a run of dates that took place over the 2017/2018 new-year period which included a performance at Lost Paradise festival. A full run of dates can be found below.

To coincide with the announcement of both the album and the world tour, the band have released the lead single from X’s entitled ‘Tejano Blue’. In a press statement regarding the song, band leader Greg Gonzalez noted that its inspiration came from listening to the Cocteau Twins as well as the late Latin-American singer Selena.

“I had the idea then to try to combine both of their sounds somehow,” he said. “[It] felt a bit strange, but also felt like it was coming from a genuine place of rediscovering & finally connecting with the music that I heard around me in my youth.”

Gonzalez went on to describe X’s as an album that “feels brutal”, give it processes the end of a four-year relationship the singer-songwriter had. “I could sit and talk about this loss to someone, but that wouldn’t scratch the surface,” he said.

“I have to really write about it, sing about it, have the music, and then I can start to analyze and learn from it. Or just relive it – in a good way. I don’t have that Eternal Sunshine [of the Spotless Mind] thing of wanting to forget.”

A pre-sale for the band’s 2025 tour will commence on Thursday March 7 from 10am local time via the tour’s promoter, Handsome Tours. A general sale will then follow the next day, Friday March 8 – again at 10am local time. Ticketing information and pre-sale access can be found below.
