Corey Taylor Says He’ll Retire “If The Original Guns N’ Roses Line-Up Reform”

With rumours of a Guns N’ Roses reunion still circling, Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor has said he will “retire from touring” if the original Guns N’ Roses lineup does reform, because he “wouldn’t want to go up against that”.

In an interview with the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Taylor addresses the rumours of a Guns N’ Roses reunion tour in the most fanboy way possible.

“I will believe it when I buy the ticket. Let’s put it that way,” Taylor says. “I mean, because nobody gets more excited about the thought of the Appetite [For Destruction] lineup coming back together.

“I mean, dude, I would retire from touring, because I wouldn’t want to go up against that. You know what I’m saying?

“And then I would follow them like I was a Deadhead. Like I would just go to every show. But that’s only if it’s the Appetite lineup — or even if it’s those guys with [Matt] Sorum.”

Taylor also says he’s seen former Guns N’ Roses drummer Steven Adler destroy on the kit even though he still “has some physical issues”.

Slipknot’s head honcho then leaps into a passionate description of his love for Guns N’ Roses’ 1987 debut album, Appetite For Destruction.

“It’s one of those albums that you cannot listen to and not go, ‘Holy shit!’ Like you put it on, and you feel it, even if you’re not into the music, you feel it.

“There’s something so dirty and so raw and so amazing about that album. And the songs are amazing. You know, people like to talk about the production or the attitude… those fucking songs are ridiculous!

“It was the one album that all my metal friends, all my skater friends, all my punk friends, all my hard rock friends could agree on… Everyone would love it. There were no complaints whatsoever.

“I saw Guns N’ Roses open for Aerosmith in ’86, and it was probably one of the greatest concerts I ever saw in my life. They were my Rolling Stones. You know, they were my rock ‘n’ roll band. And they always will be, even as Axl tries to kill the name.”

Taylor’s comments come after former Guns N’ Roses bandmates Slash and Duff McKagan recently reunited to perform an AC/DC classic.

Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst has also added further fuel to the Guns N’ Roses reunion rumours by saying he has a “strong feeling” the band’s legendary lineup will reunite for a tour after he helped Slash and frontman Axl Rose mend their broken relationship.

Guns N’ Roses were rumoured for inclusion on the lineup for Soundwave 2016, but festival promoter AJ Maddah told Music Feeds it isn’t happening — at least not at next year’s Soundwave.
