In the name of the Trans Tasman bubble, one of New Zealand’s biggest acts – Crowded House – has enlisted one of Australia’s biggest acts – Tame Impala – to remix the former’s track, ‘To The Island’.
‘To The Island’ is the second single of Crowded House’s forthcoming album Dreamers Are Waiting – their first LP in over a bloody decade.
Naturally, enlisting Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker to help out on a song means it is going to be jam-packed with psychedelia elements, and his remix of ‘To The Island’ delivers on that front tenfold.
“With all the world upended and nothing in its right place we became curious to hear how our favourite contemporary musicians and record makers might reimagine a Crowded House song,” Crowded House’s Neil Finn said in a press statement.
“I emailed our version of ‘To The Island’ to Kevin Parker with an invitation to take it apart and reassemble in his own unique way. Happily, he really liked the song and it was an absolute delight to hear what he made from it, an exotic fantasy I would call it.”
In addition, the remix is also going to be made available to purchase on 7″ vinyl alongside an unreleased remix of the song done by Unknown Mortal Orchestra. You can pre-order that bad boy here.
Dreamers Are Waiting is due out on Friday, 4th June. Listen to Tame Impala’s remix of ‘To The Island’ below.
