Daft Punk Make Surprise Appearance In Ibiza?

According to several clubland figures, Daft Punk recently played a surprise set at the Ushuaia Ibiza Beach Hotel, which regularly hosts events by world-renowned electronic acts. While neither band nor venue have confirmed the reports, alleged photos of the French duo performing have surfaced.

As Do Androids Dance reports, among those who shared photos of what appears to be two figures in colourful shirts and blue jeans donning Daft Punk’s famous robot helmets were Avicii’s manager, Ash Pournouri, Ultra affiliates Damian Pinto and Shaun Duvet, and visuals director Harry Bird.

“The Rumours are TRUE! History made in Ibiza!! [Daft Punk] live at [Ushuaia Hotel] Ibiza!!!!” wrote Pinto. Duvet captioned his photos by writing, “YES THAT IS DAFT PUNK PLAYING RIGHT NOW AT USHUAIA” and “DAFT PUNK LIVE NOW,” meanwhile others made the claim via hashtags.

Some fans have begun speculating that the claims of the gentlemen are legitimate and the performance was done in conjunction with the recent global release of the duo’s Human After All remix album, a compilation which was until recently only available to Daft Punk fans in Japan.

While the alleged performance has yet to receive an official confirmation, if the French house giants did indeed appear in Ibiza overnight, it marks their first performance since appearing at the Grammys earlier this year. That is, unless you count their “appearance” with Arcade Fire in April.
