Tim Minchin and Chrysta Bell are the two latest musical highlights to join 2018’s massive Dark Mofo lineup.
The massive festival, which will take place in and around Hobart this June, is already being headlined by St. Vincent, Zola Jesus and Alice Glass (of Crystal Castles).
Today’s addition marks Minchin’s first solo Australian show in over a decade. Chrysta Bell, who has just come off starring in David Lynch’s Twin Peaks: The Return, will be joined by Rebekah Del Rio, who die-hard Lynch fans will recognise as the crooner in Club Silencio in 2001’s Mulholland Drive.
There are also some other, non-musical additions to the event. Acclaimed journalist Peter Greste will be conducting a live interview with former violent jihadist Muhammad Manwar Ali, who devoted 15 years of his life to recruitment, radicalisation and fighting in Afghanistan and Burma.
Another noteworthy event is Tanya Lee’s ‘Landing’, which is a cumulative 24-hour marathon at the Hobart Aquatic Centre that replicates the 431 km of distance between Australia and Manus Island.
Dark Mofo 2018 will run between 13th and 24th June, with a prelude weekend from 7th to 10th June.
