Two Dave Matthews fans were on the way to the singer’s show when they had the experience of a lifetime, coming across Dave himself stranded on the side of the road with no mobile phone and giving him a lift to his own show.
Emily Kraus and her boyfriend spotted the 46-year-old and his broken-down bicycle in Pennsylvania, putting him and the bike in their car and getting him to the venue on time for his show. Kraus, who’s been a fan of the musician since she was nine, said she and her boyfriend were entirely starstruck:
“We didn’t know how to make conversation with him. So we were talking about his tour and where he had come from. He had just been in Cincinnati, and he said, ‘I’m taking a short break after this one because I have to drop my daughters off at camp.’ He’s just a very comfortable guy.”
Matthews showed his gratitude by moving the couple to the front row, inviting them backstage and even asking them out to dinner. Kraus is still pinching herself, saying, “I rolled over this morning, and I said, ‘Yeah, that really happened yesterday.'”
The Dave Matthews Band was recently voted the 10th worst band of the ’90s by readers of Rolling Stone magazine.
