David Byrne Announces 2026 Australian Tour Dates

David Byrne has announced his return to Australia, with a run of arena shows booked for January 2026. The shows were announced as part of his Who Is The Sky? world tour, which is set to celebrate his forthcoming solo album of the same name – marking his eighth solo album overall. The full list of tour dates, as well as pre-sale and ticketing information, can be found below.

In a statement shared on his newsletter, Byrne has revealed that his new live show is “unlike anything I’ve done before”. “We’ll keep the mobility that was a key element of the American Utopia tour and Broadway show,” he said, “but instead of the chain, we will have locations. You’ll just have to come and experience what that involves.” Byrne has also shared a music video for the lead single from Who Is The Sky?, entitled ‘Everybody Laughs’, which can be viewed below.

Who Is The Sky? is set for release on Friday, September 5th via Matador – marking Byrne’s first release on the label. The album was recorded with producer Tom Hull, AKA Kid Harpoon, and will feature collaborations with Byrne’s one-time Australian touring partner St. Vincent and Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams, whose band covered Byrne’s former band Talking Heads last year.

Byrne last toured nationally in 2018 as part of his aforementioned American Utopia world tour. He was joined on his Australian dates by New Zealand pop artist Kimbra. American Utopia was later adapted into a Broadway stage show, which ran from 2019 to 2020 and again from 2021 to 2022. A filmed version, directed by Spike Lee, was released in October of 2020.
