On last week’s episode of Saturday Night Live, everyone’s fave post-punk dad David Byrne returned to the show for the first time in over 30 years. He linked back up with the episode’s host, comedian John Mulaney – he appeared on Mulaney’s Netflix special Sack Lunch Bunch last year.
On the show, Byrne performed Talking Heads’ timeless Remain in Light hit ‘Once in a Lifetime’, along with Brighton Port Authority track ‘Toe Jam’, joined in both instances by the cast of his Broadway show American Utopia.
He also appeared in a sketch alongside Mulaney about LaGuardia Airport and performed a brief version of ‘Road to Nowhere’, including a cameo from fellow Sack Lunch Bunch cast member Jake Gyllenhaal.
Byrne recently announced a second run of his American Utopia show, and Spike Lee has revealed he plans to release a film version of the play sometime in 2020.
