Deep Sea Arcade Announce 2019 ‘Blacklight’ National Album Tour

Indie outfit Deep Sea Arcade have just unveiled the details of a 2019 national tour.

Hitting the road from January to February, the Sydney group will be playing in support of latest album Blacklight. It’s an extensive run of dates, with shows in Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, with stops in Newcastle and Byron Bay as well.

Catch the full rundown of dates below.

Recorded with Flume and Chet Faker producer Eric J, Blacklight is also a slight reinvention. The band hasn’t jettisoned their psychedelic roots, but this time around lean more heavily upon what they’re calling the ‘rhythm and groove’.

If vocalist Nic McKenzie’s words are anything to go by, they’re pushing their sound closer to the direction of soul, electronic music and disco. McKenzie also shares that there’s a more honest dimension to Blacklight‘s songwriting too.

“On the first album I’d always hide behind something and hide vulnerability, and it left me feeling detached,” he says. “On this record I feel like I forced myself to actually go, no, I am vulnerable and I’m going to say things about being vulnerable and when I speak to the audience I’ll be that person, I’ll be me.”
